Sign the letter: Our government needs to know what’s happening at your worksite

Dear PEA members,

HSPBA contract negotiations have been suspended because the government isn’t willing to offer terms that invest in the health science professionals who keep the system running every day.

They don’t seem to understand that this is not sustainable. That things will be fine despite shortages and workload causing staff burnout, and forcing patients and client to deal with long wait times and cancelations.

They need to know what is happening on the front lines, and why they must invest in a contract that will help fix health care. And front line professionals you and your colleagues are the best possible people to tell them.

We need to increase the pressure. This week, health science professionals across the province are being invited to connect directly with elected officials in the BC government and tell them what they need to know about their local health facilities.

They need to know how shortages are affecting you, your colleagues, and your patients.

They need to know about the burnout. About the exhaustion. About the impossible choices. About the sacrifice – trading your own health and family because you don’t want to see patients and clients suffer or wait any longer than they already are.

Click here to send a letter directly to your local MLA. We’ve provided some basic text but the important things can only be added by you.

The more MLAs from all parties know about what you are seeing, the more likely the government will see the importance of investing in a contract that must fix these issues – and fix health care itself.

In solidarity,

Idil Farah
Labour Relations Officer
