PEA-SMS Wage Increase Effective July 1, 2025

Dear PEA members,

In accordance with the collective agreement on July 1, 2025, PEA members will receive a 2.4% wage increase. This increase was in part determined by the average inflation rate (CPI) in British Columbia from June 2024 to May 2025.

Wage Increase Details
All members will receive a guaranteed 2.0% wage increase starting the first pay period after July 1, 2025.

Additional CPI-Based Increase
Members will receive up to an additional 1% increase if the average inflation rate (CPI) in British Columbia from June 2024 to May 2025 exceeds 2%. The CPI used for this is the ’12-month average’ BC Stats Consumer Price Index Highlights report released on June 24, 2025:

• The 12-month average CPI increase was 2.4%.
• This means the CPI was 0.4% higher than the 2% base.
• The total wage increase will be 2.4% effective July 1, 2025.

Having a CPI-based increase as part of the collective agreement is an important protection for members. This built-in safeguard reflects the union’s commitment to securing fair and sustainable compensation for all members.
