PEA-LABC Bargaining Update

Dear PEA members,

Parties begin collective bargaining October 27-30, followed by dates on November 24-26 and December 2-4. Your bargaining committee has worked on a proposal package that is reasonable, defensible, and addresses priorities identified by the membership. The proposal package consists of relevant language that wasn’t successfully bargained in previous rounds as well as language that other public sector tables have achieved or tabled, and proposals that address terms and conditions specific to Legal Aid British Columbia (LABC).

As you might be aware, due to strike action by the British Columbia General Employees’ Union (BCGEU) and Government Licensed Professionals (GLP) chapter of the Professional Employees Association (PEA), the public sector mandate hasn’t been set. With that in mind, the employer has not received their monetary mandate from Public Sector Employers’ Council (PSEC). We anticipate dealing with non-monetary items until the strike is over.

Your bargaining committee will be providing regular updates to members as negotiations progress. Thank you for your support.

In solidarity,

Megan Olson (Chapter Chair)
Samiran Lakshman (Bargaining Committee Chair)
Harshada Deshpande
Kendra Macnab
Todd McPherson
Jeremey Orrego
Rhiannon Bray (Labour Relations Officer)
