PEA-GLP Professional Fee Reimbursement

Dear GLP members,

I am pleased to advise that the Union and the Employer have come to a without prejudice and precedent basis on the repayment of professional fees for all professions, except legal counsel and articling students.

In this round of bargaining, the parties agreed to the following language for all professions, except legal counsel and articling students:

3.05 Membership in Professional and Allied Associations, Etc.
(a) The Union agrees that it is the responsibility of the employee to obtain and maintain membership in those licensing bodies, learned societies or associations as are necessary to maintain professional standing.

Regular employees who have completed their probationary period will be entitled to reimbursement in full of their annual licensing fee, upon application and presentation of a receipt.

  • Effective April 1, 2025, the maximum will not exceed the 2024 fee schedule;
  • Effective April 1, 2026, the maximum amount will be the 2024 fee schedule plus an additional 4%;
  • Effective April 1, 2027, the maximum amount will be the 2026 reimbursable rate increased by an additional 4%;
  • Effective April 1, 2028, the maximum amount will be the 2027 reimbursable rate increased by an additional 4%.

    The Professional Fee Schedule can be found at this link: Approved Professional Fee Schedule 2025 to 2029.

    The Union and the Employer have been discussing which year in the fee schedule is applied for calculating reimbursement. We have agreed that:

    • The professional fees paid between late 2024 and early 2025, to practice for the 2025 year will be reimbursed at the April 1, 2025 rates;
    • The professional fees paid between late 2025 and early 2026, to practice for the 2026 year, will be reimbursed at the April 1, 2026 rates;
    • The 2027 fees will be reimbursed one-time depending on when the reimbursement is requested.
      • If you pay your fees to practice in 2027 and submit to the Employer for reimbursement prior to March 31, 2027 you will be reimbursed at the April 1, 2026 rates. You will not be able to resubmit for the difference between the 2026 and 2027 professional fee schedule.
      •  However, if you wait and submit your reimbursement after April 1, 2027, you will be reimbursed at the April 1, 2027 rates.

    If under this agreement, members are entitled to additional reimbursement, they can submit now for the additional reimbursement for their 2025 and 2026 professional fees.

    Please reach out if you have any questions.
