Appendix H Reimbursement Changes

After many years of lobbying and campaigning for changes to Appendix H (Leave for Meritorious Service), the Employer informed us that they have changed the reimbursement process. This change was one of the requests we made to the Head of the Public Service when we met with them in June.

Previously, members had to submit their Meritorious Service reimbursement request after the incident or once per calendar year in November for hours worked in wildfire response. These hours were submitted for addition to the leave banks effective the following year.

Now, members may submit timesheets at the end of each pay period to EMCR for processing. Members will have access to their meritorious service hours as they are incurred. This process is primarily for wildfire and limited to other urgent events jointly activated by EMCR, PSA, MoF and the ministry involved with the response.

Appendix H is currently activated for the province. For all our members currently working in response to emergencies, we wish you safety and thank you for your service. Also, thank you to the members who have taken part in our lobbying and campaign efforts over the years.

We still have work to do to push the Employer to further improve the compensation structure for members during provincial emergencies.
