PEA-ORL Bargaining Postponed Until November 16

Dear PEA members,

Due to the state of emergency declared in the province as a result of the wildfires, bargaining has been postponed. Unfortunately, the earliest date the parties are both available to meet is the week of November 16. We are disappointed that bargaining will be delayed, but at this time, the safety and well-being of our members and our communities must come first. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

If you are affected by an evacuation order or evacuation alert and believe you may need to access the applicable leave provisions under your collective agreement, please follow your workplace’s usual notification procedures. If you have any questions or concerns about your entitlement to leave, please contact the PEA. We are here to help you navigate these circumstances.

We also recognize that wildfire conditions can change very quickly. If you are having difficulty getting to work, accessing leave, or communicating with your employer because of the fires, please reach out to me directly. You do not have to navigate these circumstances alone. Your union is here to support you and will continue to advocate on your behalf.

Most importantly, please take care of yourselves and your loved ones. Follow the direction of emergency authorities, prioritize your safety, and give yourself the time and space you need during what is an incredibly difficult and uncertain time.

Please stay safe. We are thinking of you and your communities, and we are here for you.

Sincerely,

Rhiannon Bray
Labour Relations Representative
