Media Release: Professional Employees Association ratifies tentative agreement

March 26, 2026 (Victoria) – The Professional Employees Association (PEA), representing more than 1,800 Government Licensed Professionals in the BC public service, have voted 95.8% in favour of ratifying the tentative agreement with the provincial government’s Public Service Agency (PSA).

The ratification follows ten months of bargaining and a historic eight-week strike alongside the BC General Employees’ Union (BCGEU). PEA Executive Director and lead negotiator Melissa Moroz said the vote reflects the determination members showed through job action and their focus on securing lasting improvements to the collective agreement.

“We took the longest strike in our union’s history to get a deal that respects the professionals who have dedicated their careers to serving this province,” said Moroz. “This ratification means members are backing an agreement that recognizes their value and strengthens their rights.”

The four-year agreement provides an annual general wage increase of 3% per year, with terms in effect until March 31, 2029. It also includes non-monetary gains, employment security, improved health and wellness benefits, improvements to overtime compensation, and key terms for government lawyers.
