Update on Retroactive SLBP Adjustments

Dear PEA members,

We have received clarification from Legal Aid BC regarding the retroactive adjustments related to the recent wage increases and their impact on Staff Lawyer Benefit Plan (SLBP) balances.

According to the employer, retroactive SLBP calculations have now been completed and applied. The adjustments were calculated based on each member’s individual SLBP balance and the difference between the old and new rates of pay. The retroactive value was calculated using the balance held in an employee’s SLBP bank and has been added to their SLBP balance in Dayforce. Members can view this amount under their balance information in Dayforce.

The employer has advised that:

• Members who elected a full cash-out (including RRSP) during the 2025-2026 SLBP period will receive the retroactive amount on the August 14 pay cheque.
• Members who elected to bank all or part of their SLBP have had the retroactive value added to their SLBP balance and may access those funds through the normal SLBP cash-out process.
• A further small adjustment will be made for members who took SLBP leave between October 2025 and July 2026 so that they receive the retroactive wage difference for the hours they used during that period.

Because each member’s hours worked, SLBP balance, elections, and transactions are different, the employer has indicated that individual retroactive calculations may vary significantly. They have encouraged members who would like a detailed explanation of their specific retroactive payment or Dayforce entries to contact Human Resources directly for an individualized breakdown.
