PEA-PC Pension Issue Update

Dear PEA members,

Following up on the email you received on September 26th from the employer regarding the pension plan transition date update. The union understands that the employer’s failure to adhere to the College Pension Plan’s mandatory enrolment guidelines has created anxiety amongst the membership, especially those who elected to take payment in RRSP contributions or cash payments.

The PEA has legal counsel engaged on this issue to ensure our members rights are protected. This is a complex issue, and we will be meeting with the employer as early as next week to discuss how to remedy this matter in a way that is fair and equitable for the bargaining unit. We will keep the membership up to date as the issue progresses.
