GLP Classifications
Qualifications review:
As part of collective bargaining, we agreed to conduct a Qualifications review in collaboration with the Employer. This qualifications review is to look at all employees occupying positions currently classified as LSO – Other. The goal is to document and improve data integrity.
Preliminary information using public-facing websites of professional associations and information on personnel files was gathered. Once professional registration is verified, you will be automatically moved from LSO – Other classifications to the classification which aligns with your professional registration. The employer may contact you to confirm information.
This is not a classification review, and no change to salary grid levels will occur as a result of this review.
Going forward, LSO – OTH will only be used as a placeholder for hiring purposes, and hiring managers will update the classification for successful applicants on competitions to the correct classification aligning with their professional registration.
Market adjustments for Professional Geoscientist (P. Geo.)
LSO 3, LSO 4, LSO 5 Classification
The Professional Geoscientist (P. Geo.) LSO (3, 4, 5) classification will receive a market adjustment of 3.0% beginning on April 1, 2021, as part of the new Main Agreement that came into effect April 1, 2019. To be able to pay Geoscientists, it is critical that employees are assigned to classifications that align with their professional registration.
Note: There was also an administrative amendment to update the Classification title for the LSO Geo classification from LSO Geologist to LSO Geoscientist. This update brings the classification title in line with the current titling that is used by the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. for identification of those professionally registered as P.Geo.
