The PEA Awards Committee is pleased to give up to 20 scholarships of $1,000 every calendar year to PEA members and their relatives. Award winners must meet the eligibility criteria at the time of the award selection. Please read the current policy for complete details.

Eligibility
To be eligible for PEA scholarships, applicants must meet the following requirements.
1. Be a PEA member in good standing, their relative, or a relative of a PEA staff member. Members may include persons formerly employed in a PEA bargaining unit who are receiving long-term disability benefits under terms of a PEA collective agreement. For the purpose of this policy “relative” shall mean spouse (including common-law spouse and same-sex spouse), parent, child or grandchild;
2. Be registered, or in the process of being registered, in a full-time post-secondary educational program. Full-time registration will not be required of applicants who are prevented by a disability, or other academic accommodation, from registering full-time in a regular academic program.

Process
1. All applications must be completed in full and received by May 1st. No late entries will be accepted or considered. Applicants are limited to one application per year.
2. Applicants must answer the following questions (250 – 500 words total for all three questions combined):
3. Applications will first be reviewed for eligibility and then scholarship recipients will be awarded by a recorded random draw (see part D. Conditions of the Scholarship Policy). Preference will be given to those not having received a previous scholarship.
4. Successful scholarship applicants will be posted to the PEA website and notified directly.
5. At the time of the award selection, successful applicants must meet the eligibility critieria under Section B of the policy. Successful applicants will be awarded after providing proof of completion of a full term or semester within a post-secondary education program. Proof of completion must be received by the PEA office within 24 months of the notification of the award and can be applied to any educational term or semester in the calendar year it was submitted.
6. The names of the successful applicants will be published in The Professional.

1. Only PEA members in good standing shall be eligible to apply for PEA bursaries.
2. Applicants must be registered or in the process of being registered in a part-time post-secondary educational degree or diploma program for an upcoming educational session or other professional development education.
3. Bursary applicants shall direct applications to the PEA office care of the Awards Committee. Applications shall include a maximum 250-word typed letter setting out the applicant’s education and career goals.
4. Applications must be received by the PEA office on or before May 1. Applications are limited to one application per year. No late applications will be considered.

Successful applicants will be awarded after providing proof of completion in a post-secondary education program as contemplated under A.2 in the calendar year that the application is submitted. This proof of completion must be received in the PEA office no later than 12 months after the notification of the award.
7. The names of the successful applicants will be published in The Professional.
