PEA Local Reps Basic Training

November 14 and 15, 2024, 8:45 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.

We will be offering basic Local Rep training to current local reps, chapter and association executive members, and members in areas with a vacancy. Union leave will be provided and travel costs will be covered.

Training Description

Facilitated by PEA Labour Relations Officers, this training provides a basic overview of what it means to be a local rep and the duties of a local rep, and includes interactive exercises. Participants will be provided with a manual with resources they can refer to throughout their time as a local rep. Topics will include:

– Labour History and PEA Overview
– Role of the Local Rep
– Skills for Good Representation
– Conflict Resolution
– Collective Agreement Enforcement
– Interviewing a Member
– Role of the Rep in Support of Bargaining
