GLP Strike Pay Update: October 14, 2025

This message contains important information regarding pay for members who are on strike. Please review the contents of this email to ensure that you receive picket pay.

There is additional information on the PEA website at https://pea.org/resources/job-action-resources/pea-on-strike/

PEA has processed strike pay for the week of:

September 29 – Oct 3 (Week 5)

Funds are scheduled to be deposited in your bank account on October 17th.

We are working on October 6 – 10 and will update you when it’s complete.

Due to the high volume of requests, we ask that you first submit your enquiries to you picket captain. As well, we ask that you carefully review the following FAQ for answers to questions.

Information for people who did not receive payment:

There are a few reasons why a member might not have received payment;

  1. Please ensure that you are registered in Payworks and that you have supplied the requested banking details. If you are not receiving the emails it is possible that they have gone to an incorrect email address, are in your junk folder, or to a government email address. You are authorized to check your government email for this purpose only, and we recommend that you ensure that you provide a personal email address in Payworks after you have successfully registered. Instructions on doing this are located HERE.As previously mentioned, please be aware that we have sent out multiple requests to members that have not registered for Payworks. If you have not registered, your strike pay will be delayed.
  2. A recent paystub was not received. Week 5 is the last week of targeted strike pay. We cannot calculate targeted strike pay without a recent paystub that shows a full 70 hours of pay. Please see the above link for more information if you cannot access your paystub. Please do not provide a paystub that has additional reimbursements or other required changes included without notifying us in the subject line “lastname, first name – Paystub – REQUIRES ADJUSTMENT”. If at all possible, please provide a paystub that does not require adjustment. Please note that a paystub is not required for any members that were not on strike during Weeks 1 – 5 (ending October 3rd). Please do not send them if your location started job action in Week 6.
  3. No pay appears to be due. If you do not picket or attend virtual picket duties you cannot be paid. If you believe that there has been an error, please contact your picket captain first for clarification before emailing the PEA Finance Officer.

It appears that my pay is too little, or too much.

Please note that we do not have the resources to address differences of plus or minus $50. Please wait until the strike is over to bring these differences up.

  1. Please check with your picket captain to determine if all your picket days were properly recorded. If they were not recorded correctly, the picket captain should advise Marc of the recording error. If they were recorded properly, please request a review of the payment.
  1. Errors happen. We will make every attempt to rectify errors as soon as possible. If we do not respond within 24 hours, please contact Marc directly by phone during business hours: 778-940-4694.
  2. Any overpayments will be adjusted on the next pay. If there is no next pay, the member is responsible for reimbursing PEA directly by cheque.

Other issues or questions

  1. When will strike pay be paid? This information will continue to be provided on a regular basis. We are will not answer individual emails asking for updates. As job action escalates, we will continue to pay strike pay on a regular basis consistent with PEA policies and procedures.
  2. Form AMembers in the following situations would complete a Form A:

·        Members completing essential service duties for less than a full day

·        Members with part-time schedules

·        Members on alternate duties

·        Members who have an approved accommodation from Brett Harper (bharper@pea.org)

please ensure that Laurence Toffoletto  – ltoffoletto@pea.org is the primary recipient of them (Marc should be cc’d). Laurence is responsible for recording virtual attendance and other Form A approvals.

  1. PaystubsIf you have previously submitted at paystub, please do not re-send unless it’s specifically requested. We will not normally confirm receipt of your email at this time, please feel free to add a “delivery receipt” to your email when you send it.
  2. What about my step-increase?Questions related to step-increases that were due during job action will be decided after job action ends.
  3. When will my strike expenses be paid? While we are prioritizing strike pay payments, we are making every effort to reimburse strike expenses. If you have not received reimbursement after 10 business days, please contact mjoly@pea.org.
  4. Who can answer my questions? We suggest speaking with your fellow members first about questions you may have. If they cannot answer, as above, please refer your questions to your picket captains. Your picket captains will refer questions to the appropriate person.

Finance cannot answer policy questions and can only respond to questions specific to strike pay and strike expense reimbursements.

We are trying to answer and anticipate member questions. Please ensure you visit the PEA website regularly for updates and read all communications regarding job action.
