Strategic Plan

PEA Vision Statement

Every Professional Employees Association member is a proud guardian of quality, professional public services that promote the economic, social and environmental well-being of communities.

Together, our collective union strength leads to new high standards for wages, benefits and working conditions.

PEA Mission and Renewal Statement

The PEA is a union of professionals dedicated to fair and equitable collective agreements and working conditions for its members.

We do this through collective bargaining and advocacy, member engagement and education, and promotion of the value of professionals.

We believe in integrity, in respectful relationships, and in enlightened, innovative principles of labour relations.

Renewal is fundamental to our strategy

Renewal means:

  • A solution-oriented PEA
  • Increased public awareness of PEA
  • Maintenance of collective bargaining and contract rights as our core
  • Enhanced democratic internal processes
  • Engaged and active membership
  • PEA engagement with social issues to better represent members and build community connections
  • Recognizing that there are “no easy answers”

Remembering always that “It is all about the members”

2025-2026 Strategic Plan (members-only)
Review financial statements (members-only)

The PEA’s overall goal is to build the power and influence of the PEA to better represent members and serve the public interest. Four key initiatives fall under this goal:

GOAL 1

Bargain collective agreements for all PEA members that achieve improvements in wages, benefits and working conditions and protect and enhance professional roles.

GOAL 2

Organize to grow PEA membership and strengthen internal organizing capacity.

GOAL 3

Uphold efficient and effective operation and governance.

GOAL 4

Promote health, safety and wellness for members and staff.

GOAL 5

Uphold efficient and effective operations and governance.

Annual Member Survey

The PEA conducts an annual member survey in order to develop our strategic plan and inform the priorities for the year to come. The feedback provided in the survey is vital in helping us to shape the PEA to work as effectively as it can for members.

We acknowledge and respect the lək̓ʷəŋən peoples and the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations on whose traditional territory we work.
