PEA-GLP Professional Reliance Task Force Survey Results

Dear GLP members,

In response to recent government announcements regarding permitting streamlining initiatives and a hiring pause, the PEA-side of the Joint Professional Reliance Task Force invited GLP Agrologists, Engineers, Foresters, and Geoscientists to participate in a survey aimed at capturing their perspectives and experiences.

Our sincere thanks to everyone who took the time to complete the survey and offered such meaningful comments for our task force to review.

Summary and Webinar
A summary of the survey results can be viewed HERE.

We will also be hosting a webinar on the findings of the survey and the full report – stay tuned for an invite.

Next Steps
We are currently working with the employer-side of the Professional Reliance Task Force to complete a report that outlines recommendations on the improvement of the professional reliance model in the Provincial government, per the terms of the Letter of Commitment signed by the PEA and PSA as part of the 17th Settlement Agreement.

We will be sharing the full report broadly. The report and the results of the survey will be presented to Deputy Minister Lori Halls—chair of the DM Regulatory Efficiency Board—and to Deputy Ministers where GLP members are impacted by the current professional reliance model and the recent regulatory efficiency initiatives.

We will also continue to lobby on the importance of professional reliance and will be sharing the report more broadly with BC Ministers.

How You Can Help
Although our task force will continue to move forward with lobbying and sharing the report, we would appreciate the help of the membership to elevate our message.

As a professional you can talk to your network and your local MLA about your concerns as a professional working in government. Elected representatives need to know about the current shift in professional reliance and we encourage you to bring your concerns forward.

Thank you again for your engagement. We will share the report once it is finalized and continue to update on our progress.

In solidarity,

Sarah Alloisio
PRTF Chair
