PEA Local Reps Basic Training

We will be offering basic Local Rep training to current local reps and chapter and association executive members. Union leave will be provided and travel costs will be covered.

WHEN: November 14 and 15, 2024, 8:45 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.

WHERE: Chateau Victoria Hotel & Suites, Victoria BC

Training Description

Facilitated by PEA Labour Relations Officers, this training provides a basic overview of what it means to be a local rep and the duties of a local rep, and includes interactive exercises. Participants will be provided with a manual with resources they can refer to throughout their time as a local rep. Topics will include:

– Labour History and PEA Overview
– Role of the Local Rep
– Skills for Good Representation
– Conflict Resolution
– Collective Agreement Enforcement
– Interviewing a Member
– Role of the Rep in Support of Bargaining
